Get The Best Performance From Your Dishwasher With Proper Loading

An easy task like loading the dishwasher should not have much bearing on the results, but it does. Follow these tips and you will enjoy cleaner dishes from your dishwasher immediately, giving you more time to do things you enjoy around your Northern Virginia home or elsewhere.

    • Always remove excess food from all dishes before loading them in the dishwasher. Even though some television commercials claim this is unnecessary, you will see better results from the dishwasher if you do.
    • Rinse the dishes before loading them in the dishwasher, especially if they were used for foods such as rice as the small pieces may be easily stuck in place.
    • Paying attention to the dishes as they come out of the dishwasher will give you a good indication of what the dishwasher has trouble removing. For example, dried ketchup may be difficult for the dishwasher to handle, meaning you will have to rinse it off before washing next time.
    • Always place plates on the bottom, facing the center of the dishwasher. Never lay the dishes against one another in the dishwasher, this prevents the flow of water between them and will greatly reduce the cleanliness.
    • All glasses, cups and bowls should be placed on the top rack of the dishwasher for best results.
    • Prevent melted Tupperware and plastic items by placing them on the top rack away from the heating element.
    • Combine several types of utensils in the basket to prevent like items - such as spoons - from sticking together during the dishwasher cycle.
